Girls Instructional (G12)

 

 

This division is exclusively girls, grades 1&2. 

 

Players are randomly placed onto teams.  There are no evaluations. Coaches do not select their own teams.

We do not allow carpools at any level.

 

The instruction is still basic but might use more advanced drills than used in Kindergarten.

Team Size:         10 or 11 players

Basket height:    8’

Ball size:             27 inch or 27.5 inch

Location:             Freedom Elementary School (Historically)

Frequency:          Twice per week

Duration:             One hour

Weeknight:          One weeknight (Monday/Tuesday/Friday)  /  Start time:  6pm/7pm

Weekend:            Saturday  /  Start time:  On the hour, starting between 9am and 12pm

Tournament:        No

Awards:               Each player receives a medallion or trophy for participation 
 

 

The early season uses both sessions for practice.  As we get into late December or early January, they have organized scrimmages with other division teams.

 

We do try to provide a 'striped shirt' official as often as possible for games.  The officials will often be students new to the officiating role, as we train them as they work these games.

 

Players should be playing as close to equal time as possible, depending on the number of participants.  Ideally, with 10 players, all should play for 2 quarters (18 minutes).
