Kindergarten (K)

 

 

Generally, this division is Co-Ed.  It is our only Co-Ed division.  If the volume of female participation is large enough, we would consider separating boys and girls.

 

Players are randomly placed onto teams.  There are no evaluations.  Coaches do not select their own teams.

We do not allow carpools at any level.

Team Size:         10 or 11 players

Basket height:   8’

Ball size:            27 inch or 27.5 inch

Location:           Eldersburg Elementary School (Historically)

Frequency:        Once per week

Duration:           One hour

Possible Days:  Sunday Only  /  Start Times:  On the hour, starting between 1pm and 4pm.

Tournament:      No

Awards:             Each player receives a medallion or trophy for participation

 

 

The early season is mainly instruction. As the season moves forward, they have organized scrimmages with other division teams.

 

There are no ‘official’ games, meaning we don’t use ‘striped shirt’ referees, keep official score or record wins and losses.  While there might be a scoreboard provided, there are rules regarding how scores are reflected during the game.

 

Players should be playing as close to equal time as possible, depending on the number of participants.  Ideally, with 10 players, all should play for 2 quarters (18 minutes).
