Inclement Weather Policy

When email or phone call reminders are received, regarding CCPS cancellations, we want to listen and look for NON-CCPS sponsored activities.  FABL and Rec & Parks are not sponsored by CCPS.  Those activities would be things like SAT testing or Fund-Raising activities to benefit the schools.

Regarding inclement weather and closing of facilities and cancellations of programs/activities

The Superintendent of Schools reserves the right to cancel activities in CCPS facilities.

FABL is not the decision maker in closing Carroll County Public Schools

As a reminder,

  • If the snow emergency plan is in effect, all activities are cancelled, regardless of their location.
  • If the snow emergency plan is in effect at or after 8pm on the day prior to an event, all activities for the next day are cancelled.
    • Even if the plan is lifted before the next days activities, the county still closes facilities.
    • Example... Snow Plan goes into effect at 830pm on Friday.  Snow plan is lifted at 2am Saturday morning.  Events are still cancelled for Saturday (with the exception of activities at St. Stephen's Church)
  • Should the snow emergency plan go into effect while activities are underway, the event shall be concluded and participants are to vacate the facility as soon as practical.

Short story

It HAS happened... when the snow plan goes into effect on Friday night at 8pm, and then by 8am the plan is lifted and Saturday is sunny and 62 degrees.  We are still shut down for the day.  This is not an FABL decision, it is the County policy.  Sending us an irate email will not change this.
